Duncan Seeks Applicants to Fill Commission
On People with Disabilities Vacancies

County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill nine vacancies on the Montgomery County Commission on People with Disabilities. Three vacancies must be filled by representatives of organizations or agencies that provide services to people with disabilities; five vacancies must be filled by representatives of people with disabilities (one of these vacancies is for a partial term expiring in 9/2002); and one representative must be filled by a parent of a person with disabilities. Of the incumbent members, three agency representatives, one person with a disability, and one parent of a person with disabilities are eligible to apply for reappointment.

The Commission advises the County Executive on programs and services concerning the nearly 160,000 residents with disabilities.

Members serve three-year terms without compensation, meeting the second Wednesday evening of each month. Members are expected to serve on at least one committee or work group that meets approximately once every month on its own schedule. Applicants should write by July 6 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850. A brief resume, including home and work telephone numbers, should be enclosed detailing pertinent experience and business, civic or community group association. The cover letter should indicate the type of slot the applicant is applying for. Those applying for reappointment must indicate current employment or send an updated resume with your application letter. Members of County boards, committees, and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
