DUNCAN TO RECEIVE
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
The Village of Friendship Heights will recognize Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan on July 4 by awarding him the Elizabeth Scull Outstanding Community Service Award for 2001. The award will be presented at the community’s annual Independence Day celebration at 3 p.m. at the Hubert Humphrey Friendship Park, located at 4433 South Park Avenue, Chevy Chase.
“Mr. Duncan has been an outstanding public servant and has been very helpful to the Village of Friendship Heights over the years,” said Village Manager Julian P. Mansfield. “He continues to do a terrific job for the citizens of this County, and we are very pleased to honor him with this year’s community service award.”
This annual award is presented to those individuals who best demonstrate the qualities of dedication and personal integrity that Elizabeth Scull exemplified during her lifetime of service to the residents of Montgomery County. Some of the previous honorees have included former County Council member Gail Ewing, former Council member and County Executive Neal Potter and former Acting Montgomery County Police Chief Alan Rodbell.
“Receiving recognition from the Village of Friendship Heights is an exceptional honor for me,” said Duncan. “I am pleased to be selected for this award, and to join the ranks of previous award winners.”
