Public Dedication Ceremony
Set for New Glenmont Pool

The public is invited to attend the gala dedication ceremonies for the new Wheaton-Glenmont outdoor pool to be held on July 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Highlights of the evening will include free swimming from 6:30 to 8 p.m., free ice cream and a giveaway.

County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and honored dignitaries will cut a ribbon to officially dedicate the new $3.3 million complex that opened on May 26.

Located off Randolph Road, at 12601 Dalewood Drive, the facility includes pools for all ages and abilities. There is a six-lane, 50-meter main pool and an eight-lane, 25-meter swim course with one meter and half-meter diving boards.

A separate shallow-water leisure pool features fountains, sprays and kiddie slides, while an activity pool contains two flume slides and cross-walks.

Other amenities include a tot pool, snack bar, bath house and lawn areas.

The pool is open from 1 to 8 p.m. during the week and noon to 8 p.m. on weekends.
