Crazy About Reading "Read-a-Thon"
To be Held at Aspen Hill Library
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Montgomery County Public Library System, the Aspen Hill Library will host a 24-hour Read-a-Thon from July 27 at noon to noon on July 28.
Among the dignitaries and VIPs reading during the event will be Council President Blair Ewing, Library Director Harriet Henderson, Friends of the Montgomery County Library President Susan Schmidt, and Jay Winik, author of April 1865: The Month That Saved America, a New York Times best seller. Various other participants, including children, will read from their favorite books for three to 30 minutes.
Other local officials expected to participate include County Council member Marilyn Praisner; State Senator Leonard Teitelbaum; State Delegate Carol Petzold; Arthur Wallenstein, director of the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation; and Robert Green, warden of the Montgomery County Detention Center. The event highlights the Aspen Hill Library as an important community resource and the importance and love of reading.
