Commission on Landlord-Tenant Affairs
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Tenant representatives must be tenants of a residential rental facility in Montgomery County or must be nominated by an organization that represents tenants of residential rental facilities in Montgomery County. There is one full-term tenant vacancy and 2 partial term (one an alternate) vacancies which expire in June 2002.
All members must be Montgomery County residents and serve three-year terms. Members are required to file annual confidential financial disclosure statements. A confidential financial disclosure statement must be submitted with each application. To receive a form, please call 240-777-2528 and leave your name and complete mailing address.
Meetings of the full Commission are held the first Tuesday evening of each month in Rockville. In addition, members are expected to serve on panels which hear cases involving landlord-tenant disputes. Members serve without compensation.
Interested citizens should write by August 24 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, Maryland 20850. A letter and brief resume, including work and home phone numbers should be included. Nomination letters may be included with the application or mailed separately.
Members of County boards, committees, and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time. The Executive’s appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
