Panama’s Folkloric Group
To Appear at Wheaton Library
The splendor and array of colors expressed through native folkloric dance and culture will be highlighted in a performance by the internationally acclaimed Folkloric Group of Panama, to be held at the Wheaton Library, on September 22, at 11 a.m.
The free program will feature Panamanian dances and an original musical presentation. Dancers will appear in the traditional dress known as the pollera, the national costume for women and a symbol of Panamanian nationality. The pollera has been called “…one of the most beautiful and admired traditional dresses of the world.”
The group has performed in the USA and Central America, in addition to countless Latin festivals and parades. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Montgomery County, the program is part of the Montgomery County Public Libraries Hispanic Month Celebration.
The Wheaton Library is located at 11701 Georgia Avenue.
