County Cable Show on Barnesville Wins
National First Place Award
The National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) has awarded first prize to the Montgomery County Office of Public Information for its show about Barnesville – the first show in a series that features the local communities that have helped earn Montgomery County its “All America City” designation. The award was presented during NATOA’s 16th Annual Government Programming Awards ceremony held last week in Miami Beach, Florida.
The 15-minute show, “Scenes from Montgomery County,” was produced by Jessica Fusillo, who has also completed shows about Poolesville and Boyds. Upcoming shows include Emory Grove and Kensington.
The Barnesville show highlights the historic community in northwestern Montgomery County, which is located north of Poolesville off of Rt. 109. The show features interviews with former Mayor Elizabeth Tolbert and residents who are fighting to maintain the character of the community by diverting traffic.
The show can be viewed on the Montgomery County government channel -- County Cable Montgomery (Channel 5/55 or 6, depending on your cable service) -- on Monday, October 1 at 12:30 p.m.; Wednesday, October 3 at 9:30 p.m.; and Sunday, October 7 at 12:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
