Duncan Seeks Applicants to Fill
Board of Social Services Vacancies

County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill four vacancies on the Montgomery County Board of Social Services. Legislation was recently enacted that expanded the Board by four positions; terms for the new positions will be for one, two or three year terms. Applicants of diversified backgrounds and those living in the eastern part of the County are encouraged to apply.

The thirteen member board advises the Department of Health and Human Services, the County Executive and County Council, as well as the Social Services Officer on the local application of state policies and procedures, receives briefings on local department activities, and communicates to the residents broad and comprehensive information as to the objectives, policies, programs and problems of local social services and public assistance administration in the County.

Members serve three-year terms without compensation and meet the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in Rockville.

Applicants should write by October 19 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850. A brief resume, including work and home phone numbers, should be included. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.

Duncan’s appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
