County to Host
Earthquake Relief Expo
On Saturday
In an effort to assist victims of the recent and devastating earthquakes in India and El Salvador, Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is inviting the public to attend an Earthquake Relief Expo to be held on Saturday, February 3, from 9 a.m. to noon in the lobby of the Montgomery County Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville.
"Our residents have a tradition of responding to help others in need," Duncan said, "and we're urging them to come to the Expo and learn how they can contribute to the people in these two countries that have been so hard hit by earthquakes. No donation is too small, because this effort is about people helping people, and every bit helps."
The Expo will feature information on ways that residents can contribute to a variety of relief efforts. Representatives from the Red Cross, Doctors without Borders, and local emergency relief programs, will be on hand to collect financial donations (including checks or loose change), answer questions, and offer ideas on how to help.
The Red Cross will have collection canisters available so residents can organize collections within their own neighborhoods, religious institutions, civic organizations, etc.
For more information about the Relief Expo, call the Montgomery County Volunteer Center at 240-777-2600.
