Montgomery County Celebrates
Black History Month
In celebration of Black History Month, the public is invited to a program on Tuesday, February 6 at 7 p.m. in the lobby auditorium of the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street in Rockville. The program is sponsored by the County Executive's Office of Community Outreach and the County's Department of Health and Human Services, and this year's theme is, "Revisiting Our Heritage."
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and County Council President Blair G. Ewing will make remarks and present a joint proclamation designating the month of February as Black History Month in Montgomery County. The keynote address will be given by Dr. Winston Anderson, Executive Director of the Sandy Spring Slave Museum and African Art Gallery, Inc.
The program will feature musical entertainment by the gospel group, Promises of God, and musical selections by Nancy French Barber. Light refreshments will be served.
All activities are free. Parking is available in the garage under the building on the G-2 level, and across the street in the Stella Werner Council Office Building parking garage, located at the intersection of East Jefferson and Monroe Streets.
