Public Invited to Workshop to Discuss
Future Transportation Options for Wheaton
The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will be holding a Quality Community Survey (QCS) in Wheaton on Sunday, December 9 from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Crossway Community, 3015 Upton Street. The workshop will focus on transit and transportation issues, including pedestrian, bicycle, highway and public transit.
The MTA has been working with representatives from the Montgomery County government, the Wheaton Redevelopment Program, Westfield Shoppingtown Wheaton, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, the Wheaton Citizens Coalition and the Wheaton-Kensington Chamber of Commerce. A QCS is a unique planning technique that closely involves community residents in the planning process and consists of three parts, including a visual preference survey, questionnaire and mapping exercise. The MTA has been conducting these surveys in communities statewide as part of the Governor’s Smart Growth and Neighborhood Conservation Initiative.
To RSVP, or to arrange for special accommodations for persons with disabilities, call 240-777-8121. For questions about the QCS, contact Judith Sikorski with MTA at 410-767-2948 or 1-888-218-2267; or Natalie Cantor at the Mid-County Regional Service Center at 240-777-8100.
