Montgomery County to Hold Public
Veterans Day Ceremony on November 9
The public is invited to honor the service of Montgomery County veterans at the third annual Veteran’s Day ceremony to be held on Friday, November 9, from 9:30-10 a.m., at the Executive Office Building’s plaza (outside cafeteria) at 101 Monroe St., Rockville.
Two World War II veterans will be guest speakers. Charlene Cohen served in the Women’s Army Corps and Dee Paris, lieutenant colonel (US Army retired), fought at the Battle of the Bulge and subsequently served 25 years in the active US Army Reserves. Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and Council President Blair Ewing will present remarks and commemorative items will be given to all who attend.
The ceremony will include prelude music by the Rockville High School Pipe Band, plus patriotic selections during the program. Immediately following the ceremony, refreshments will be served in the cafeteria. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the cafeteria. Public parking will be available in the Council Office Building garage at the corner of Monroe and Jefferson streets.
Montgomery County employees attending the event will receive two hours of administrative leave.
