Duncan Seeks Taxicab Services
Advisory Committee Applicants
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies on the Taxicab Services Advisory Committee. One vacancy is for an industry/management representative and the other vacancy is for a general public representative.
The committee’s purpose is to advise the Director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation regarding the duties and functions involved in regulating taxicabs. The committee also evaluates the performance of the taxicab industry in serving residents, especially those with special transportation needs.
The Taxicab Services Advisory Committee has nine members. Four members represent the taxicab industry (two must represent management and two must be taxicab drivers); and five members represent the general public, including one who represents people with disabilities. Members serve without compensation. It is estimated that the committee will meet ten times a year. Meetings are usually held the third Tuesday of the month in the evening in the Executive Office Building, Rockville.
Applicants should write by November 30 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St., Rockville, MD 20850. A resume with home and office telephone numbers should be included. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time. Duncan’s appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
