Local Poets Invited To Submit Works
For Public Gallery in Executive Office Building
Montgomery County poets are invited to submit works for display in the Poetry Gallery located in the lobby of the Executive Office Building (EOB) at 101 Monroe St., Rockville.
Writers must work, live, or attend school in Montgomery County, and must have been published in at least three journals, magazines, or books, or have won or been a finalist in a major writing competition within the last three years. Poems should be no longer than 20 lines, including stanza breaks. Eight poems, reproduced in enlarged format, will be displayed for three months.
The Executive Office Building Poetry Gallery was established in 1999 by County Executive Douglas M. Duncan to provide an opportunity to enhance the public's appreciation for poetry and their enjoyment of the work of Montgomery County's talented writers.
Deadline for submissions is December 3, 2001. Send one or two poems, and a brief biography, to Poetry Gallery Coordinator, 101 Monroe Street, 2nd Floor, Rockville, MD 20850; or by email to ocemail@montgomerycountymd.gov; or drop off submissions at the Writer's Center, 4508 Walsh Street, Bethesda. Additional information is available by calling the Offices of the County Executive at 240-777-2500.
