County Celebrates
“America Recycles Day”
With Recycling Fair;
Activities, Exhibits, Tours, Prizes
Highlight Event on November 17
A recycling fair featuring entertainment, music, children’s activities, guided tours to the Recycling Center, interactive educational activities for all ages, prizes and refreshments will highlight the County’s celebration of “America Recycles Day” on November 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 850 Hungerford Dr., (in front of the Montgomery County Board of Education complex).
The event is designed to promote waste reduction through recycling, reusing materials and purchasing products made from recycled materials. Displays will feature products made from recycled materials, and a craft-making booth where children can make items that demonstrate useful ways to reuse materials.
In addition to prizes and giveaways, refreshments will be served and everyone attending will be entered in a drawing for a new bike. The first 200 persons will receive American flag pins, and additional prizes and giveaways will be provided to persons who can correctly answer questions about recycling. Other children’s activities will include face painting, magic acts, a juggler, stilt walker and clowns.
Guided tours of the County’s recycling center will be provided throughout the day. Visitors will be transported via shuttle buses from the fair to the center every 20 minutes.
