Town Meeting on Emergency Preparedness
For Senior Citizens to Be Held at Holiday Park
Senior citizens will have a chance to hear about local emergency preparedness procedures from County officials and ask questions about their individual concerns at a Town Meeting to be held at Holiday Park Multiservice Center on December 7, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., in the auditorium.
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan will moderate the meeting, which will cover topics such as emergency response/preparedness, bio-terrorism, stress and anxiety, and community unity. Speakers will include the County’s Fire Administrator Gordon Aoyagi and Health Officer Dr. Carol Garvey.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.
This is one of a series of Town Meetings on emergency preparedness and response hosted by the County Executive that will be held around the County.
“In the wake of the September 11 attacks, our residents should feel confident that their local government is doing all it can to be prepared for any new challenges,” Duncan said. “This town meeting, and the ones to follow, will provide a two-way flow of information. Our public safety and health officials will discuss the steps the County has taken to help ensure the safety of our residents, then we will respond to their questions about specific concerns.”
Holiday Park Multiservice Center is located at 3950 Ferrara Drive in Wheaton. There is free parking on the premises.
