Duncan Seeks Applicants For
Commission on Juvenile Justice Vacancies
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is currently seeking applicants to fill three vacancies on the Commission on Juvenile Justice. Two of the vacancies are for partial term positions expiring in July 2002; the other term expires in July 2004.
The commission monitors the juvenile justice system and advises the County Executive, County Council and Juvenile Court on matters concerning juveniles. It is responsible for keeping both legislators and citizens informed about juvenile needs. The commission also is responsible for promoting the general welfare of juveniles under the jurisdiction of the court; for making budget recommendations affecting juvenile justice programs; and for making periodic visits to facilities in the State that serve County juveniles. Members serve three-year terms without compensation. Meetings are held the third Tuesday evening of each month in Rockville.
Applicants should write by December 21 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe St., Rockville, MD 20850. A brief resume, with work and home phone numbers, should be enclosed. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
