Applications Being Accepted for
Community Initiatives Grants
In October 2000, Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and the Montgomery County Council announced the creation of a Community and Neighborhood Initiatives Grant Program. The program contains $250,000 and provides up to $2,500 per applicant per year to strengthen communities in the County.
The funds, available during the current fiscal year, will be awarded for community projects including beautification, civic training and coordination, neighborhood capital improvements (neighborhood signs, lighting or weather shelters), community outreach and organizing, crime prevention, and youth activities or services. Applications will be reviewed by a panel from each community services center. Grants will be awarded to established or emerging community groups and established non-profit organizations.
"It is our intention that this partnership between the County and the community will improve the quality of life for our residents," said County Executive Douglas M. Duncan.
The deadline for this round of applications is March 15. To receive an information packet and application, contact the Regional Services Center closest to you.
