Chef to Demonstrate, Discuss
Recipes from Colonial Williamsburg
At Fairland Library
Recipes from Colonial Williamsburg appropriate for the season will be demonstrated at the Fairland Library, 14910 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville, on December 8, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Chef John R. Gonzales, formerly an assistant to Jean-Louis Palladin of the Watergate Hotel's Jean-Louis Restaurant, who recently served as executive chef of the four operating taverns at Colonial Williamsburg, will prepare recipes he developed for “The Colonial Williamsburg Tavern Cookbook.” Chef Gonzales is currently a consultant for the Virginia FoodService Group in Richmond.
Chef Gonzales will prepare Collops of Salmon with Braised Winter Cabbage and Fennel Seeds and Oyster Fritters. The cookbook was edited by Charles Pierce, with recipes developed by Gonzales from America’s culinary heritage and adapted for the modern home cook.
Following the cooking demonstration, Gonzales will sign copies of the book. Copies will be available from the Fairland Friends of the Library for $19.95, plus tax.
The free program is sponsored by the Fairland Library Advisory Committee and the Fairland Friends of the Library. The program is open to all ages, and no registration is required.
For more information, call the Fairland Library at 301-421-5400.
