Technology Director Named For
Department of Economic Development

The Montgomery County Department of Economic Development (DED) has announced that Sean A. Burns has been named director of technology program development. The technology program development director will work to expand job growth and economic opportunities for the key technology sectors—biotechnology, information technology and telecommunications.

“We have committed county resources and are using cutting edge approaches to enhance and grow the technology community in Montgomery County, said David Edgerley, director of DED. “Bringing Sean to our leadership team allows us to create partnerships with growing technology companies that will be second to none.”

Prior to joining DED, he served as vice president for business development of Zephion Networks and Broadband Office, and vice president for Telecom/Internet Strategy for Equity Office Properties. He also held various senior management positions with MCI. Burns has nearly 20 years of telecommunications and real estate industry experience.

The Department of Economic Development concentrates its work in the area of job creation, retention, tax base enhancements for growing industries and small business, and generally strives to improve the overall economic well-being of Montgomery County.
