Duncan Receives Scull Public Service
Award from Metropolitan Washington
Council of Governments
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan today received the 2001 Elizabeth and David Scull Memorial Public Service Award from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG). The award was presented today at COG’s Annual Meeting and Issues Conference.
“I’m very honored to receive this award and join so many distinguished public servants who have be recipients of it in the past,” Duncan said. “David and Elizabeth Scull represented the best in public service, and I am flattered that COG has chosen to recognize me with such a high honor.”
The award is presented annually to a local elected official to recognize outstanding governmental contributions to the Washington area at the metropolitan level. It is named in honor of the late Elizabeth L. Scull, who was chair of the board of COG and a former Montgomery County Councilmember and for her late husband David Scull, former president of COG and Montgomery County Councilmember.
“Doug Duncan has been an extraordinary leader on regional issues including the drought in 1999, and transportation issues. He was involved with regional planning sessions in the wake of the terrorist attacks and worked hard with his colleagues from all the other jurisdictions. We were pleased to honor him with the Scull Award today,” said Michael Rogers, Executive Director, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
