Town Meeting Scheduled to Present
Wheaton Revitalization Options
Montgomery County's Mid-County Regional Services Center and the Wheaton Redevelopment Office will co-host a Town Meeting on Tuesday, February 27 at 7 p.m. to present the results of the focus group/design charette process for the revitalization of the Wheaton Urban District. The meeting - which is open to the public - will be held at the Wheaton Redevelopment Offices, located at 11501 Georgia Avenue, Wheaton. The community is invited for pizza at 6:30 p.m., followed by the presentation at 7 p.m.
Lauren Adkins and Scott Day of the National Main Street Center - a program of the nonprofit National Trust for Historic Preservation - were called in to facilitate the process. After conducting a series of focus groups and seminars during September and October of last year, Main Street staff has developed four possible development scenarios for the Wheaton Urban District. Representatives of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission and Montgomery County government will also be present to answer questions and respond to comments.
Copies of the final report and recommendations are available at the Mid-County Services Center, 2424 Reedie Drive, and at the Wheaton Redevelopment Office.
