Seleznow to Head County’s Workforce Investment Board
Montgomery County today announced the appointment of Eric Seleznow as director of the County’s Workforce Investment Board. Seleznow, who is currently serving as interim director, will be responsible for guiding the County’s efforts to develop a well-prepared, educated and adaptable workforce.
“During tough economic times, it is especially important to maintain a diverse and highly-trained workforce,” said David Edgerley, director of Montgomery County’s Department of Economic Development. “We must work with business and education leaders to develop programs to meet both our current and future workforce needs. Eric’s commitment to worker training and placement uniquely qualifies him to lead our county’s efforts in this area.”
Seleznow will direct the County’s workforce investment system and oversee all local Workforce Investment Act programs. These programs include Montgomery Works, a one-stop center for Montgomery County's employers and job seekers; Career Transition Centers for dislocated and entry-level workers; Youth Works, a placement program for young people, and Career Connections which provides employers with grants to provide career-related internships for students and teachers.
Seleznow has more than twenty years experience in developing and implementing workforce programs for the County’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. During that time, he has worked extensively with local businesses to create training programs and expand job opportunities for rehabilitated offenders. He has served on the local Workforce Investment Board for more than five years and has been interim director since October when the board was reorganized.
“I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work with the County’s businesses and community leaders to strengthen Montgomery County’s workforce, particularly as we face a more challenging economy,” said Seleznow.
