Announce Anniversary Photo Contest
Open To All Library Users

In celebration of 50 years of service, the Montgomery County Public Libraries are sponsoring an amateur photography contest open to library users of all ages.

Entries must reflect the theme "Libraries Change Lives," and prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place winners in the three age categories - 12 and under, 13-18 years and 19 and older. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed form and only one entry per person is allowed.

Photos, which must have been taken in Montgomery during 2001, may be black and white or color, measure 8"x10," and be dry mounted on mat board. Signed releases must be obtained from any person who is recognizable in a photo. The entrant's name, address, phone number and the location of the photo must be written clearly on the back of the entry.

According to Libraries Director Harriet Henderson, "The contest will provide the community with an opportunity to share how libraries impact our customers' lives."

Examples of entries could be scenes of an interactive story time at the library, a library facility, landscaping or surroundings; family or friends reading to a baby; a library program, etc. All entries will become the property of the Department of Public Libraries.

Complete photo contest rules and necessary forms are available at all Montgomery County Public Libraries or on the Libraries' web site at www.montgomerylibrary.org.

The deadline for submitting photos is May 30, 2001. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in July 2001.
