Duncan Seeks Applicants For
Interagency Coordinating Board

County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies for citizen representatives on the Interagency Coordinating Board for Community Use of Public Facilities. The vacancies are four-year terms, ending in June 2005. One incumbent is eligible to apply for reappointment.

The Interagency Coordinating Board has nine voting members including: the Chief Administrative Officer, the Superintendent of Schools, the President of Montgomery College, one member of the Planning Board, a representative of the County Council, one citizen appointed by the Superintendent of Schools and confirmed by the Board of Education, and three citizens appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council. There are also three ex-officio members including: a member of the Board of Education; one representative of Montgomery County Association of Secondary School Principals, and one representative of the Elementary School Administrators Association.

The Interagency Coordinating Board provides policy decisions on the community use of public facilities and community education services. The Board is committed to making public facilities accessible and affordable to all individuals and organizations. The Board meets approximately 4-6 times a year to discuss and take actions on issues concerning the use of public facilities. Meetings are held on Wednesdays from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Members serve without compensation.

Interested citizens should write by March 30 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850. A brief resume, including home and work telephone numbers, should be enclosed. Any incumbent reapplying must indicate current employment in their letter. Members of County boards, committees, and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.

Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
