The Spring Family Series
Features Arts Performances for Young People
Performing arts groups representing international cultures will be featured at The Spring Family Series to be held at the Silver Spring Library every Saturday from March 17 through April 21. Performances will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the large meeting room of the library, located at 8901 Colesville Rd.
Sponsored by the Silver Spring Urban District, the free series is geared to children ages three to 12 and will vary from music and song to storytelling and dance. After the performance, children may check out books about the culture or country featured and, with supervision, make a craft.
Following is a schedule of performances and craft activities:
March 17, Irish Tales & Blarney, Batt & Maura Burns; craft: Plaid Weaving
March 24, West African Songs, Games, & Stories, Anansegramma; craft: African Masks
March 31, Mexican Folk Dances, Los Quetzales; craft: Ojos del Dios
April 7, Chinese Storytelling, Linda Fang; craft: Chinese Fans
April 14, Leis, Lua, & the Hula, Mahina & the Polynesians; craft: Leis
April 21, Folk Tales Revisited, Round House Theater; craft: Theater Disguise.
