Commission for Women,
Counseling and Career Center
To Move to New Location

Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan has announced that the offices of the County's Commission for Women and its Counseling and Career Center will move to a new location in early summer.

Currently located in the Bank of America Building at 255 N. Washington Street in Rockville, the commission will move to new offices in the Gateway Tower Building at 401 North Washington Street.

The new, ground-level location will provide over 12,000 square feet of space for offices, classrooms for programs and seminars, and counseling rooms. "This new space will provide improved facilities for the clients of the Counseling and Career Center, as well as for the public who attend the many programs and classes presented by the commission and the center," Duncan said.

"We are delighted to have been able to locate this new facility," said Judith Vaughan-Prather, Executive Director of the Commission for Women. The Counseling and Career Center serves thousands of women and men each year. This new location will make it possible for us to better serve both the commission and our clientele, while maintaining our location in downtown Rockville, with great access to public transportation."

The Commission, which observes its 30th anniversary this year, is expected to move into the new site in late June.

The Montgomery County Commission for Women works to bring about changes in conditions creating inequities for women. The Commission is comprised of 15 members who are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council.

The Counseling and Career Center provides direct services to individual women, including personal and career counseling, workshops and information referral.
