The Montgomery County Office of Community Outreach invites the public to attend the closing ceremony for the Mongolian Yurt that has been on display in the Executive Office Building cafeteria for the past month. The ceremony will take place on Monday, January 28 at 11 a.m. The ceremony will include speakers, entertainment and samples of Mongolian food.
The Yurt is the traditional Mongolian house used by the Mongols for thousands of years. More than 40 percent of the Mongol population still live in Yurts today, moving from place to place as the seasons change. The Yurt contains traditional cabinets, furniture, utensils and cookware. The Yurt display, as well as a Mongolian art exhibit on the lobby level of the Executive Office Building, are sponsored by the Mongol Gobi Culture Association to educate the American public about the culture and Nomadic life style in Mongolia.
