The Montgomery County Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board has elected M. Ricardo McCrimmon as its chairperson for the 2002-2003 term. A member of the board since 2000, McCrimmon resides in the Aspen Hill area of Silver Spring and works as a systems engineer for a federal defense intelligence agency.
Elected to serve as vice chair was Alec J. Stone, a resident of the Kemp Mill area of Silver Spring. Stone has also served on the board for two years and is chair of the board’s legislative committee.
Established in 1978, the 15-member board serves as Montgomery County’s bridge to the 220,000 residents and businesses throughout the 99 square miles of the Mid-County services area of Montgomery County. The Mid-County boundaries extend north to Howard County; south to the Beltway (495); east to Sligo Creek Parkway; and west to Rock Creek Park.
The Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board is a liaison between the wide network of communities and Montgomery County agencies. The Board provides advice and recommendations to the County Executive on policy and budget issues; planning and
goal setting procedures; and legislative matters. It also strives to educate the community on governmental structures and services, and acts as a facilitator to foster solutions to community problems, needs and issues.
The Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board meets each month on the third Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at the Mid-County Regional Services Center, 2424 Reedie Drive, Wheaton. Meeting agendas are published in advance of monthly meetings. Those who wish to be placed on the mailing list for agendas, minutes, and the Mid-County’s monthly newsletter, The Mid-County Sparkler, should call 240-777-8108. This information is also available on the County’s website at www.emontgomery.org/rsc/midcnty.
