DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS
FOR LIBRARY BOARD VACANCY For Immediate Release (June 6, 1996)
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill five
vacancies on the Montgomery County Library Board. One of the vacancies is for
a position which expires in September 1998. Two incumbents are eligible to
apply for reappointment.
The l2-member Board makes recommendations to the County Executive on
matters affecting the public library system, including the acquisition and
location of new library facilities, the adequacy of book collections, services
to outlying districts, and personnel needs of the Library Department. Members
serve three-year terms without compensation. Meetings are held the third
Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in Rockville.
Applicants should write by June 19 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan
at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850. A
brief resume should be enclosed. Work and home phone numbers should be
included. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve
on more than one such group at a time.
Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
