GERMANTOWN FIREWORKS SHOW
TO LIGHT UP SKY ON JULY 3 For Immediate Release: June 14, 1996

Fireworks will fill the sky over Germantown on Wednesday, July 3, in a
first-ever celebration of "Germantown Glory," a pre-Independence Day event
sponsored by Montgomery County and local Germantown organizations.
The celebration -- to be held at the intersection of MD Route 118 and
Crystal Rock Drive, just west of I-270 in Germantown -- will begin with live
entertainment at 7:30 p.m, featuring performances by "The Mustangs" and "The
Original Sevilles." A spectacular, half hour fireworks extravaganza will
follow at 9:30 p.m. Food items will be on sale throughout the evening.
"We're very excited about being able to bring this special community
celebration to Germantown," said Montgomery County Executive Douglas M.
Duncan. "It should be a great night out for the whole family."
Spectators are urged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.
Free parking will be available in the U.S. Department of Energy parking
facilities on Aircraft Drive. Signs will direct motorists to the parking
area. Parking for persons with disabilities will be provided near Century
Boulevard.
Co-sponsoring the festivities, along with the County, are the Germantown
Chamber of Commerce and local business and community groups.
