PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULED
ON DETENTION CENTER REUSE           For Immediate Release: July 18, 1996


     A community meeting on the potential reuse of the existing County
Detention Center will be held on July 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of the
Executive Office Building in Rockville.
     Residents are invited to provide feedback on a preliminary list of
options which resulted from a survey of County agencies.  The meeting is
presented by the Detention Center Reuse Task Force, chaired by Senior Chief
Administrative Officer Gordon Aoyagi.
     The Task Force will consider the comments submitted at the meeting in
preparing its report, which will be forwarded to the County Executive and
County Council in September.
