NEW REGIONAL FARMERS MARKET
OPENS SATURDAYS AT COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
THROUGH OCTOBER 31 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASES: August 19, 1996
A new regional farmers market is now open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m. at the Montgomery County fairgrounds in Gaithersburg. The market is
located in pole barn 41 near the Dalamar Street entrance to the fairgrounds,
off Rte. 355 behind the Golden Bull Restaurant.
Each week through October, the market will feature an assortment of
bread from a baker in Baltimore, a variety of produce from an orchard near the
Catoctin Mountains, locally grown sweet corn and tomatoes, along with herbs,
cut flowers and handmade crafts. Orchard produce offered at the market
currently includes peaches, pears, nectarines, plums and apples.
The regional market is sponsored by the Montgomery County Office of
Economic Development (OED) and the Maryland Department of Agriculture. For
