INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IS FOCUS OF SURVEY;
CITIZEN AND BUSINESS INPUT INVITED

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 29, 1996

Citizens and businesses are invited to comment on ways they think
Montgomery County can better serve them using improved information technology.
A survey of public interest in obtaining specific information and conducting more business with
the County electronically is now accessible from the Montgomery County home
    page on the internet.
Individuals who have a computer, modem and internet access can
participate in the survey by linking to http://www.co.mo.md.us and clicking on
"Information Technology Strategic Plan - Survey." Those who do not have
internet access should call the Survey Hotline at 301-217-7711 and leave a
recorded message with their responses to the following questions:
o What transactions would you like to be able to conduct with the County
    electronically?
o What information would you like to be able to obtain electronically?
o In what new ways can Montgomery County use information technology to
serve its citizens and business community better?
The information gathered through the survey will be considered in the
preparation of the County's Information Technology Strategic Plan, which will
include an assessment of the current state of technology in Montgomery County
Government and will make recommendations for its direction over the next five
years. Information technology, for this plan, is defined as computer,
application, telephone, radio, video, network and related technology.
