TASK FORCE RECEIVES ONE-MONTH
EXTENSION TO COMPLETE
JAIL REUSE STUDY For Immediate Release: September 12, 1996
The Montgomery County Detention Center (MCDC) Task Force has received a
one-month extension to complete its study on potential reuses of the facility
after the new Detention Center in Clarksburg becomes operational. The task
force, which had been scheduled to complete its study at the end of September,
will submit its final report by November 1, 1996.
Due to the extension, the public meeting scheduled for September 18 has
been postponed until October. The next meeting of the task force will be held
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25 in the second floor conference room of
the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville.
The extension was granted by the County Council so that the task force
could await completion of an evaluation of the pilot Central Processing Unit
(CPU) program, which is currently housed at the facility in Rockville.
