LATIN-AMERICAN ART EXHIBIT
FEATURED DURING HISPANIC
HERITAGE MONTH For Immediate Release: September 13, 1996
In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the public is
invited to two special programs -- a workshop and an art exhibit -- on Friday,
September 20 at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville.
The workshop, entitled "Knowing Yourself, Loving Yourself: Marks of
Leadership in the Multicultural Workplace and Community," will be held from 1
to 4 p.m. in the lobby auditorium. The workshop will be conducted by Lucy
Negron-Evelyn, founder of the award-winning program El Ingeniero and this
year's recipient of the Maryland Governor's Commission on Hispanic Affairs
Award for Education.
At 5 p.m., Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and WUSA-
Channel 9 Reporter Miriam Hernandez will help unveil the lobby art exhibit
"Expresiones Artisticas," a collaboration of 17 Latin American artists.
A public reception with light refreshments and a cultural performance
will also be featured.
The free program is sponsored by the County Executive's Office of
Community Outreach, the Montgomery County Office of Human Resources' Diversity
Program and the Montgomery County Hispanic Employees Association.
Parking is available in the garage under the building on the G-2 level,
and across the street in the Stella Werner Council Office Building garage
located at the intersection of East Jefferson and Monroe streets.
