RESIDENTS CAN RECYCLE
PHONE BOOKS AT 10 LOCATIONS For Immediate Release: Sept. 20, 1996

Residents can recycle telephone books at any one of 10 conveniently located
drop-off points around the County, from September 24, 1996 through January 3,
1997. Books to be recycled must be dry and free of plastic wrapping.
In each of the past two years, County residents have recycled about 500
tons of phone books. Recycling the old directories prevents them from being
disposed of at the landfill.
The program is supported by the County's Division of Solid Waste Services,
in partnership with: Bell Atlantic, Reuben H. Donnelley, Safeway, K-Mart, Seven-
Eleven, Dunhill Management Group, Cynwyd Investments, W.C. and A.N. Miller
Realtors, as well as the Montgomery County Department of Public Libraries, the
County Department of Recreation, and the Town of Poolesville.
For information on locations and hours of acceptance, call the Recycling
Hotline -- 590-0046 -- Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m., or call the Recycling
Information Line at 217-2870.
Note to editors: A list of locations and hours is attached.
