COUNTY HONORS VOLUNTEER
FIRE AND RESCUE WORKERS For Immediate Release: October 4, 1996
Sixty-five volunteer firefighters and emergency medical service workers will be honored
for their outstanding community service efforts on Wednesday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the
Executive Office Building cafeteria, located on the terrace level at 101 Monroe Street in
Rockville.
Congresswoman Constance A. Morella, Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan,
County Council President Gail Ewing and Fire and Rescue Commission Chairman George Giebel are
scheduled to attend. The ceremony will be narrated by WUSA, Channel 9, sports reporter Ken
Mease, Metro Traffic Reporter Stacy Binn and Chief James Seavey of the Cabin John Park
Volunteer Fire Department.
The ceremony marks the eighth annual event sponsored by the County Executive and Fire
and Rescue Commission to honor volunteers for their outstanding achievements and emergency
responses in the community. Honorees from the following departments include:
Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad -- Richard O'Connor, Firefighter/Rescuer; Tobin Fried,
Paramedic; Johnie Roth, Assistant Chief; and Timothy Long, Firefighter/Rescuer;
Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department -- Kirk Risinger, Firefighter/Rescuer; Ronnie
