PROGRAM TO FEATURE
WHITE HOUSE OFFICIAL ON
EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE For Immediate Release, October 2, 1996
The public is invited to a special Hispanic Heritage Month program on
October 15, featuring a presentation by Alfred Ramirez, executive director of
The White House Initiative for Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans.
The program, which will also include a panel discussion on issues
affecting Hispanic American employees, will be held from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. in
the lobby auditorium of the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street,
Rockville. The program will be moderated by Office of Human Resources
Director Marta Brito Perez.
Ramirez's presentation will focus on strategies for educational and
career advancement for Hispanics in the workplace and academic institutions.
Prior to his special appointment, Ramirez was associate director of the White
House Office of Presidential Personnel, where he directed Hispanic recruitment
efforts and coordinated placement of presidential appointees to federal
agencies. Ramirez also served as a special assistant to the former Mayor of
San Antonio, and current HUD Secretary, Henry Cisneros.
The program is free, and seating is limited. Persons wishing to attend,

The program is sponsored by the Montgomery County Office of Human
Resources, the County Executive's Office of Community Outreach, Montgomery
College, Montgomery County Public Schools and the Montgomery County Hispanic
