 BALLOT INFORMATION AND
 ELECTION NIGHT RESULTS
 AVAILABLE ON COUNTY HOME PAGE     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 23, 1996
 
 
      Up-to-the-moment election results will be accessible on the Montgomery
 County home site to anyone with internet access.  The election results will be
 available on November 5, after the polls close at 8 p.m. and the counting of
 votes begins.  Citizens who do not have internet access are invited to visit
 Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, where election results will be
 displayed in the auditorium as the votes are counted. 
      The Montgomery County home page can be found at "http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov" 
 where a banner proclaiming "Election '96" will provide a hotlink directly to
 the Supervisors of Elections page, which currently includes a listing of all
 of the candidates and ballot questions, along with Congressional and Board of
 Education district maps.  
      The Montgomery County home page, which went online at the beginning of
 the year, offers a host of other information, as well.  This includes direct-
 mail access to the County Executive and County Council; information and
 telephone numbers for County services; traffic updates and bus schedules; job
 opportunities and employment applications; news releases; the County Cable 55
 programming schedule; and direct links to public schools, other local
 governments, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, and
 the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
