DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
RUSTIC ROADS ADVISORY COMMITTEE For Immediate Release (Oct. 28, 1996)
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill three
vacancies on the County's Rustic Roads Advisory Committee.
As mandated by law, the County Executive must appoint a committee of
seven voting members, all of whom must be Montgomery County residents.
One vacancy is for an owner-operator of commercial farmland who earns 50
percent or more of his or her income from farming and is a member of the
Agricultural Advisory Committee; one vacancy is for a community-at-large
representative; and one vacancy is for a person knowledgeable in rural
preservation techniques through practical experience and training. Two
incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation. The group is
required to meet at least six times a year. Duties include promoting public
awareness of the program, reviewing and commenting on the classification of
rustic roads, and reviewing and commenting on Executive Regulations and
policies that may affect the program.
Interested citizens should write by November 22 to County Executive
Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St., Rockville,
MD 20850. A brief resume, including home and work phone numbers, should be
enclosed. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve
on more than one such group at a time.

Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
