EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION OF
POLLING ASSIGNMENTS MAILED
TO SOME VOTERS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 29, 1996
Within the next few days, some registered Montgomery County voters will
receive a postcard with the name and address of the polling place where the
voter should go on Election Day. Although sample ballots containing this
information were mailed last week, errors caused by an equipment malfunction
at the printing company have resulted in incorrect polling sites listed on
some sample ballots.
Since the malfunction appears to have occurred on a sporadic basis and
was not limited to ballots sent to a specific area of the County, the actual
number of errors cannot be determined.
In an effort to correct the problem, the mailing house has volunteered
to print and mail to these registered voters during the next few days -- at
no cost to the County -- an emergency notification postcard with the correct
name and address of the polling place to which that voter is assigned. Voters
should go to the polling site listed on the emergency notification, rather
than that listed on the sample ballot if the two are different.
The emergency notifcation cards will be in the mail on Wednesday,
October 30 and should reach voters prior to Election Day, November 5.
