DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS
TO FILL VACANCIES ON
COMMISSION ON AGING                     For Immediate Release (Nov. 7, l996)

     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill seven
vacancies -- six full-term and one partial-term -- on the Montgomery County
Commission on Aging.  Five incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment. 
One partial-term vacancy expires in January 1999.  The remaining six positions
expire in January 2000.
     Serving as an advocate for the welfare of the County's elderly, the
commission advises the County Executive, the County Council and the Department
of Health and Human Services on the needs of seniors.  Members serve a three-
year term without compensation.  Meetings are held the fourth Thursday of each
month at the Holiday Park Senior Center in Wheaton from 9:15 a.m. to l2 noon. 
Commission members are expected to serve on a committee of the Commission as
well.  Each committee meets on the average of once a month, generally during
the day.
     Applicants should write by November 29 to County Executive Douglas M.
Duncan at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 
20850.   A brief resume including home and work phone numbers should be
enclosed.  Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve
on more than one such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. 
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
