DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
BETHESDA URBAN PARTNERSHIP, INC.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS                     For Immediate Release (Nov. 26, 1996)

     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill two
vacancies on the Board of Directors of the Bethesda Urban Partnership, Inc. 
One of the vacancies is for a residential representative of the Bethesda-Chevy
Chase planning area, and the incumbent is eligible to apply for reappointment. 
One vacancy is for a resident member who resides within the Urban District,
and the incumbent is eligible to apply for reappointment.
     The 11-member Board of Directors provides more direct involvement of the
community in the provision of urban district services.
     The functions of the Board of Directors of the Bethesda Urban
Partnership, Inc. include the maintenance of streetscape and streetscape
amenities; the promotion and organization of promotional activities; and other
similar activities.
     Other current voting members of the Board include two members nominated
by the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce; three members who are, or
represent, owners of optional method development; one small business
representative; one member who lives in a residential community outside of,
but in close proximity to the urban district; and one Bethesda-Chevy Chase
Citizens Advisory Board representative.

BETHESDA URBAN PARTNERSHIP                                          2-2-2-2

     Meetings are currently held on the third Tuesday of each month at 
7:45 a.m. at the Bethesda Urban Partnership, Inc. office.  Members serve
without compensation for three-year terms.
     Interested citizens should apply in writing by December 20 to County
Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe St.,
Rockville,  MD  20850.  A brief resume including home and work telephone
numbers should be enclosed.  Members of County boards, committees and
commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. 
Applications of those appointed are made public as part of the Council
confirmation process.
