DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS
FOR SILVER SPRING CENTER
CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD For Immediate Release (Nov. 26, 1996)
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill six
vacancies on the Silver Spring Center Citizens Advisory Board. Five incumbents
are eligible to apply for reappointment.
The Board is composed of l5 residents and business persons of
communities in the Silver Spring/Takoma Park area. Homeowners and apartment
dwellers are invited to apply in order to establish a balanced representation.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation. Meetings are usually
held the second Monday of each month from 7-9 p.m., at the Silver Spring
Center.
The Board acts as liaison between the Silver Spring communities and the
County government by identifying neighborhood and business concerns and making
recommendations to County officials. It advises the Silver Spring Regional
Services Director on area needs and priorities such as economic development,
transportation, housing, education, human services, environment, public
safety, recreation and other issues of importance to the area.
Interested citizens should apply in writing by December 20 to County
Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe St.,
Rockville, MD 20850. A brief resume, including work and home phone numbers,
should be enclosed. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may
not serve on more than one such group at a time.

Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
