PHONE BOOK RECYCLING                    
TO END ON JANUARY 3, 1997            For Immediate Release: December 3, 1996    
     

     The County's Division of Solid Waste Services reminds residents that this
year's telephone book recycling program ends on Friday, January 3, 1997 at most
County drop-off locations.    Telephone book recycling bins at the Safeway in the
Damascus Shopping Center, Safeway in Cloverly, Seven-Eleven in the Sugarloaf
Shopping Center, K-Mart in Aspen Hill, Chevy Chase Public Library, Potomac
Community Center, Poolesville Senior High School and the Little Falls Mall will
be removed on January 3.
     Drop-off locations for the Montgomery County Transfer Station/Recycling
Center and at Southeast Recycling Corporation in Silver Spring will continue to
receive telephone books after January 3.
     Books to be recycled must be dry and free of plastic wrapping.

Recycling Hotline at 590-0046, Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m., or call the
