DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
RUSTIC ROADS ADVISORY COMMITTEE         For Immediate Release (Dec. 4, 1996)

     Due to recent changes in the County Code enacted by the County Council,
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy
on the County's Rustic Roads Advisory Committee.
     This vacancy must be filled by either (1) an owner-operator of
commercial farmland who earns 50 percent or more of his/her income from
farming, or (2) a person who represents a civic association located in the
agricultural reserve, or (3) a person who represents a civic association in an
area located outside the agricultural reserve where there are rustic roads.
Interested residents who have questions about their eligibility may contact
Don Ayres of the Department of Permitting Services at (301) 217-2162. The
incumbent is eligible for reappointment.
     The Rustic Roads Advisory Committee consists of seven members who must
all be Montgomery County residents. Members serve three year terms without
compensation. The committee meets at least six times a year. Its duties
include promoting public awareness of the Rustic Roads Program, reviewing and
commenting on the classification of rustic roads, and reviewing and commenting
on Executive regulations and policies that may affect the program.
     Interested residents should write by December 27 to County Executive
Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street,
Rockville, Md 20850. A brief resume, including home and work phone numbers,
should be enclosed. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may

not serve on more than one such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
