WOMEN'S LEGISLATIVE BRIEFING
SET FOR FEBRUARY IN BETHESDA     For Immediate Release: Dec. 13, 1996


     Critical state and federal legislative issues affecting women will be
addressed at the 17th annual Women's Legislative Briefing to be held on
February 2 at the Natcher Conference Center in Bethesda.
     Presented by the Montgomery and Prince George's Commissions for Women,
the briefing is co-sponsored by more than 60 community organizations.           
Topics to be covered are: welfare reform, education and training, civil
rights, health care initiatives, family law, domestic violence, funding cuts
to women's services and effective advocacy.
     Session panelists for the briefing include Maryland State Delegates
Joanne Benson, Jean Cryor and Sharon Grosfield; Montgomery County Board of
Education Immediate Past President Ana Sol Gutierrez; Prince George's County
Council Chair Dorothy Bailey; and civil rights activist Ralph Neas.
     Registration for the free event will begin at noon, followed by the
opening session at 12:30 p.m. County Executives Douglas M. Duncan and Wayne
Curry have been invited to present remarks.
