COUNTY JOINS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
TO RELEASE HISTORY BOOK For Immediate Release (Dec. 19, 1996)
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan, today joined the Montgomery County
Historical Society to announce the re-release of "A Grateful Remembrance," the
bicentennial history of Montgomery County. The book spans the period from the
18th Century until 1976.
The book was originally published in 1976 by the County's Department of
Public Libraries in collaboration with the Historical Society and numerous
County citizens. The 1996 re-print is a cooperative effort between the
Historical Society and Montgomery County government, and it features
attractive new cover art taken from a painting by local artist Sandra
Bourdeaux.
"'A Grateful Remembrance' is something in which everyone in Montgomery
County can be proud," said Duncan. "It's especially appropriate that we
present this update of our County's colorful history as we approach a new
century."
Copies of the soft cover book are available at many County bookstores
for $16.95 and at the Historical Society Museum gift shop, located in the
Beall Dawson House, 111 West Montgomery Ave., Rockville. The museum is open
Tuesday-Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call the
Montgomery County Historical Society at 340-2825.
