RIDE ON SERVICE CHANGES
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 5, 1997               For Immediate Release:  Dec. 31, 1996



     Montgomery County's Ride On bus system will be making service adjustments on
many of its routes, effective Sunday, January 5.
     Highlights of these service changes include the re-routing of all Route 75 morning
southbound trips via new MD 27 (Ridge Road), Observation Drive, Shakespeare Blvd., and
MD 355.  Service will be discontinued on Boland Farm Road.
     Route 90 will be re-routed to service East Village Avenue, Cinnabar Drive, and
Hadley Farms; service will be discontinued on Woodfield Road between East Village and
Hadley Farms Drive North.
     On weekdays, all but two inbound and three outbound Route 55 trips serving
Germantown (Montgomery College) will operate via the new Milestone Center on
Shakespeare Blvd.
     On Saturdays, all Route 47 trips will begin leaving Montgomery Mall at :10 and :40
minutes after each hour, and Rockville at :15 and :45 minutes after each hour.  Route 54, on
Saturday, will begin leaving at :17 and :47 minutes after each hour from Rockville.

RIDE ON SERVICE CHANGES ANNOUNCED                           2-2-2

     On Sundays, all Route 11 trips from Friendship Heights will begin leaving at :15 and
:45 minutes after each hour, and all trips leaving from Silver Spring will begin departing at
:10 and :40 minutes after each hour.  For Route 54, all trips will leave Rockville at :17 and
:47 minutes after each hour.  On Route 57, all trips will leave from Lakeforest on the hour
and the half hour.
     Many Ride On routes will have minor schedule adjustments.  Changes of more than
five minutes, including the elimination, addition, or extension of trips, affect Ride On Routes
7, 18, 22, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 33, 42, 44, 52, 55, 63, 68, 69, 75 and 90 on weekdays; Routes
8, 11, 14, 18, 25, 36, 42, 47and 54 on Saturdays; and Routes 11, 42, 54, and 57 on Sundays.
     Ride On service adjustments are made three times a year to improve the bus system's
overall efficiency.
